On Wednesday I had the lovely opportunity to go to the Behind Closed Doors VIP party down at Solestruck celebrating their new Spring arrivals and showing off some of the yummy things coming in for next season. With champagne flowing, discounts being handed out and beautiful people trying on some majorly beautiful shoes, it was a recipe for all things wonderful.
They also were playing their fantastic new lookbook On the Road as we all shopped. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t waste anymore time.
Morgan in shoe lust.
There were so many lovely shoes, but by far my favorite of the night was the United Nude Abstract Rome Hi. What a beauty, right? I clearly wasn’t the only one with an eye for this little diddy either because every time I looked up from my love affair there was a new girl with them slipping onto her foot.
The good news if you didn’t make it to the party? They’re throwing another one! You can always count on these cats to have a fun party, and luckily Spring Break is the perfect excuse. Details below.
Spring Break party Saturday April 7th, 2012
Solestruck will be kicking of their new pop up with Saltwater Gypsy Vintage & Tnemnroda Jewelry. Expect a DJ, lots of beer, free goodie bags to the first 100 people through the door and wait for it, wait for it… we’ll be giving away 5 pairs of Jeffrey Campbell Litas! Fun will be happening all day but the DJ, giveaways and goodie bags don’t start till 7pm.
Solestruck isn’t the only one getting in on the fun either…
Isaac Hers will be hosting a “Make My Break” sale and party. Get 20% off apparel plus an EXTRA 5% off when you Check-In at their store on Facebook. They’ll be partying from 3-9 pm with drinks starting at 3 pm and a DJ at 6 pm.
The Woodlands and Tanner Goods will be serving up beer from Ninkasi, stayin’ open late, and offering some sale goods.
Dunderdon will have beer and a Sale too!
Moral of the story? Get down there Saturday for fun, goodies, cocktails and shoes!
Last Thursday, March 1st, I had the chance to attend the Spring 2012 Designer Preview put on by Nordstrom. It was held at the Portland Art Museum and was a surprisingly good time. It was another fashion show that was showcasing the current season, not the upcoming one, followed by a shopping event where you had the chance to purchase the items you saw on the runway. Needless to say I wasn’t scribbling down as many notes about what I planned on purchasing as some of the women in the front row…
The shopping event afterwards had anything from clothes, to shoes, to accessories, and even a greta selection of designers they didn’t feature in the show but carried in the store. There were also some delightful cocktails circling around (including a full champagne bar!). As you can see below, I was also obsessed with their amazing light box tables.
Yet another fun event I’ll be missing while I’m out of town, and if you are here you really have to go! We all know I love myself some Solestruck, and they throw a great party. They are bringing out the big guns in their new arrivals (read: Acne, See by Chloe, Opening Ceremony) and celebrating at their store on W Burnside in Portland.
Solestruck Flagship Store
Friday, February 10th 7-10pm
Did I also mention it’s a pop up with some amazing local jewelry artists? It is. The One Two Three and Product of Play will have their amazing goods there to shop (both amazing ladies that I adore!).
Go check it out if you don’t have plans Friday night, and if you do, reschedule.
I’m so jealous that the PDX Collective sale is happening while I’m gone! This sale shows to be pretty good every time, and is worth getting down there for. I have found quite a few lovely things in the past, not to mention I love any event hosted at The Cleaners because I just love the space.
Get down there this weekend and check it out!
Portland is stepping up the game on designers that you can now find here in town. I never was a huge Nordstrom girl… well, before now. Lately they have been picking up some new lines, including Proenza Schouler, Rachel Zoe, and more. What’s even better? The fact that they are hosting fun launch events with some of the new lines as they arrive. It’s great to be able to go somewhere local and see a pretty wide selection of one designer’s collection for the season, instead of just a piece or two. Plus, throw in cocktails and those insane cookies they bake on site? Done.
This past Saturday they held a Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler launch event for the Resort line. I must add, both had some of the best color I’ve seen in awhile. Let’s just say I was having dreams about the little shift dress (and those Chloe heels? Come on!) well after the fact.
They are also now carrying some of the fantastic new seasonal Proenza Schouler bags, with a wide range of colors and styles as well. Even if it isn’t within your budget, it’s great to have somewhere in town to go and fall in love in person!
So if you haven’t been down there in awhile, go check it out. Not to mention that in this weather of snow flurries, downtown Portland is worth it just for the romantic sights!
I hate to see them go, but I love the discounts as they walk away…? That’s definitely not how that goes.
Either way, if you’re in Portland go check out the deals the folks over at Local 35 are dishing out as they close their doors for good this week. That new coat can soak up all of those tears…

-All Remaining Jackets 50% Off

If you haven’t been yet, and live in the Portland area, get down to the Portland Bazaar at Sandbox Studio. It’s going on Saturday and Sunday this weekend and is full to the brim with some of the finest products the design scene in Portland has to offer. Everything from vintage, to screen prints to jewelry are in there; along with bands, food and the best apple cider I’ve had in years.
There are some great vendor spotlights over at their blog portlandbazaar.com that you can check out if you aren’t in the area and want to see more of the fun!
A while back I had the chance to meet up with the adorable ladies of iliveherepdx.com out in my neighborhood. They started a really great site around showcasing some of the great, interesting folks that call Portland home. I love what they’re doing, and it is a great way to see all of the amazing talents nestled into your own neighborhood!
Today my post showed up on their blog, so check it out (even Pickles has her own cameo!). I hope you all are having a great Friday and are ready for the weekend!
Last night I stopped by Union Pine to check out the Give Good Gift! : Holiday Pop Up opening night. It’s a two-day pop up shop consisting of local designers, brands and even bartenders. With Mulled wine and spiced cider flowing, it really felt like a cool warehouse party with the bonus of shopping. Some really nice Christmas gifts ranging from Solestruck shoes, to The Good Flock woolen goods, to One, Two, Three jewelry.
They are still going today until 3pm, so get down there if you can, it’s worth it!
