another day in the neighborhood

I must say… it’s so nice to be home. I couldn’t have come home to better weather either, the perfect Portland Fall that I missed! I’m excited for more tights, boots, and slouchy sweaters.

And of course spiked hot cocoa!

RIP favorite little boots

This morning I woke up to a terrible sound. Pickles was chewing away… ON MY FAVORITE BLACK SEUDE BOOTIES.

I could have killed her.

I should have killed her.

The face that saved her life. She’s lucky she can fall back on those Basset Hound eyes… I went back to bed and cried instead.

So in memory of my favorite Black Booties… we had some great times together. I’ll miss you dearly. They had a great last day.

Pickles-mania!

So we are very very excited about the fact that we are going to get Pickles on Friday! We are taking a short week and heading down to Falls City, Oregon to bring her back with us to her new home; then spending the whole weekend fawning over her. I’m sure she will be sick of us by Saturday morning.

Regardless I wanted to let you know that I made a new “page” as they call them on here with the link to a Pickles blog. I want to avoid boring you all to death by making this a Pickles-centric blog… and once again going ADD on you all!

Check it out over here on the page, or here on Fox and the Hound.

Knobs + Hooks

I’ve been on the lookout lately for a little knob/hook of some sort for our hallway to hold the leashes that will soon be hanging (and are now currently hanging from the door-handle of the closet).  I thought these ones were quite nice and would fit our aesthetic. Apparently grown ups really aesthetic do have an “aesthetic” for their homes… I always thought it was a myth until recently.  ;)

From very good & proper via oh joy!

Pickles is 6 weeks old!

So we went to visit pickles yesterday down in Falls City. A bit of a drive, but completely worth it! It was fun to see all of the pups play together, and to have some quality time with our little pup. She got tired by the end and started whining, which I quickly figured out meant she wanted to nuzzle up to my neck and go to sleep. We are in deep trouble with this little sweetheart!

Turns out WordPress won’t let me embed videos on here unless I pay almost $60 a year? Bummer. Anyhow, you can check out some videos we took over at our new YouTube channel here. (Including a cute one of her hanging out on her back, which she loves!) We’ll keep posting when she comes home, but hopefully those can tide us over until then.

It’s official!

So… the moment we’ve been waiting for for over a year now has finally come! We have chosen a puppy! Sorry to be so late to update the blog about it, it wouldn’t allow me to upload photos for some reason, and this post really needed photos ;)

On our one year anniversary, this is what I opened as my gift!

After almost three months of searching every shelter from Seattle to the California border online and in person, we ended up going to a local breeder. It was too heartbreaking to continue on the hunt in the shelters as every time I would find a dog and call on her to schedule a visit she’d already be gone. Who knew it was so hard to adopt a puppy?

So we decided on a little female Basset Hound from Carter’s Hound Dog Ranch in Falls City, Oregon. We went down to visit and check out the breeder and property on December 23rd, and chose are little girl then. I was nervous to see the conditions of the dogs/how they were kept as I was very set on getting a shelter dog. But I was very pleased to see how much this couple realy loves their dogs and keep them in very good conditions.

So here is our little one on the first visit. She kept making grunting noises and it was incredibly adorable.

The breeder is so sweet that each week they send us an update with new photos of her as she grows, and how she is doing. This week her eyes opened and you can see how her markings are changing…

Sorry for the tiny pic, but it’s what they sent us. I can’t wait to watch her grow and change as we go down to visit before we pick her up! We’ll be able to pick her up the Friday of Valentine’s weekend!
